This movie had a lot of hype coming in, sold me with the trailer despite its X-Men-like superpowers and was a fun, relatable film about what kids would do if they were bestowed with superpowers.

Burgeoning writer Max Landis penned his first feature and showed why he’s one of the hottest writers in Hollywood. Over Super Bowl weekend, it grossed a nationwide-high $22 million against a $15 million budget and has grossed over $85 million worldwide. His next film is an action comedy called Good Time Gang, starring Mark Wahlberg and Jonah Hill.

To be picky, though not noticeable, this movie’s actual running time was under 80 minutes, which is insanely short. Also, as entertaining as the big fight was in Act 3, the guys’ injuries were inconsistent with other times when they were impervious to pain.

To top it off, the drive home from the theater was quite an experience. I kid you not, there was a big hole in the middle of the street. There were three of us. We stood by it for an hour but were too terrified to go in or do anything with it. And the next morning, the U.S. government city closed the hole and continued to close the road to vehicles. Sound familiar?
