Ted review

Seen at a pre-release screening in Los Angeles:

Yes, this was Family Guy, the movie – except a live-action, R-rated comedy with a Brian/Peter Griffin mix in Ted. A lot of jokes you would find on the show are present from writer/director/star Seth MacFarlane, but surprisingly, some jokes fall flat. That and a very basic story make this a good, not great comedy.

Joel McHale plays the douche involved with the female lead better than Jon Hamm from Bridesmaids, in my opinion, and Giovanni Ribisi plays the creepy teddy bear lover to a tee.

It’s not as funny as one of the better Family Guy episodes–and I thought it could’ve been funnier–but if you like Family Guy or are looking for a fun comedy, you’ll enjoy this movie.

Ted opens in theaters on June 29.
